CHICAGO (CBS) – A baseball field in Garfield Park finally gets the care it needs.
When it rains, the baseball field turns into a muddy swamp – putting kids away for days.

Garfield Park Little League president Nadine Bass told CBS 2’s Jim Williams that 12 years ago public funds were allocated to renovate the pitch – possibly even to install an artificial surface to replace this which is a muddy swamp after a downpour.

But that job was never done.

But now a state senator has finally approved a grant application, so the money is on the way.
