The Faf du Plessis-led side suffered a serious setback with Rajat Patidar’s heel injury before their first encounter. For Mumbai Indians, star paceman Jasprit Bumrah will miss the entire IPL 2023 due to a back condition. The speedster has also had back problems in the past and he has been out since September 2022. Bumrah’s replacement for the Mumbai Indians is yet to be announced.
Another Mumbai Indians speedster, Jhye Richardson, is also out of competition. Jhye will miss two months of activity due to a recurring hamstring injury.
