Stade Toulousain: “Let the presidents take the time instead of releasing the coaches!” Ugo Mola’s strong message to the leaders of the Top 14
The manager of the “Rouge et Noir”, rewarded with his team on Monday November 20 with the prize for best staff of the year during Rugby Night, spoke about the recent upheavals which have shaken up several Top 14 teams behind the scenes and Pro D2 in recent weeks.

“If there is a small message to convey, it is that our president friends take the time to choose their coaches carefully rather than releasing them too early.” Scathing comments made by Stade Toulousain manager Ugo Mola on Monday, November 20 at the Olympia and relayed this Tuesday by the newspaper The Team. The sports boss of the “Rouge et Noir” had just received, with his family, the prize for best staff of the year during Rugby Night.

He highlights a trend which, according to him, is beginning to dangerously increase: “Last year, I think there were five or six staff dismissed. In Pro D2, this year, it has already taken root. The only message that I can pass on to the general directors of certain clubs or to the presidents, is that often, we perhaps do not take the necessary time to properly recruit a staff and its environment. Once it is well chosen, it “It’s rare for divorces to happen early.” Before concluding: “I also believe that the results occur in rather healthy and stable environments.”

A message that takes on even more emphasis when we remember that Ugo Mola’s first years as head coach of Stade Toulousain (he arrived in 2015) were not the most peaceful: 12th in 2016 -2017, eliminated in the play-offs in 2015-2016 and 2017-2018; before three championship titles in 2019, 2021 and 2023, as well as a Champions Cup in 2021.
