Stacey Dash recalls taking 18-20 pills a day amid addiction battle

After leaving the hospital, Dash continued to use drugs. “That’s still when I was like, ‘Okay, Stacey, so give up. You can’t make this life.’ And I almost did something stupid. I didn’t, “she recalls. “I called my sister and said ‘Come on right now.’ And then I called my lawyer and said, ‘I need help.’ And she fired me. Within eight hours, there was an intervention guy at my house and I was on a plane to Utah to go to rehab… It wasn’t until the last few years. Last 10 days I said I’m addicted. ‘”

Today, Dash has been sober for five years. “I just celebrated five years of sobriety,” she said. “I’m clean, five years old. And during those five years, my blessing – the biggest blessing is that not only have I been able to be honest with myself and become a better person, I have been able to understand my parents and ‘they loved me and they were doing their best and they were just just sick. They were addicted. “

Dash credits her faith for helping her get sober and hopes that by sharing her story, she can help those struggling with addiction.

“There is no shame in getting help because it is what we need,” she said. “And for people who aren’t addicts, I would ask them to look at people with more compassion and empathy, understanding because they need help. They need help. They can’t. do it alone. ”
