CHICAGO (SCS) — It’s the last weekend of summer for Chicago public school students.
Saint Sabina Church held a block party to prepare the children. The church set up bouncy houses and games, and served food to 1,000 people.
The children were also treated to free haircuts and a book bag giveaway.
“I just think it’s a great, great thing. It’s peaceful. You know, the kids have fun. What could be better than that?” said young mentor Joseph Saunders.
Father Michael Pfleger said the children were doing what they were meant to do: laugh, play and have fun.
Classes start Monday for CPS students.
