Springfield police are asking residents to check their home surveillance cameras as they search for a person of interest in Monday’s apartment building fire that claimed the life of an 18-year-old woman.

Investigators are asking all residents living in the Grover Street area to check for anyone in their home’s surveillance footage between 4 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Monday, October 16.
Springfield police and firefighters responded to 118 Grover St. around 5:15 a.m. Monday for a fire that ultimately took the life of a woman and left a man seriously injured.
Michelle Quiles identified her daughter, Janayrah Rivera, 18, as the victim of the fire in an interview with Telemundo Nueva Inglaterra.
“My baby will never drive, she will never be a mother,” she said.
