Carlos Lesmes, the president of Spain’s National Judicial Council, said he would resign on Monday, carrying out his previous threats. His resignation comes after intense controversy over the renewal of the board, which has served on a provisional basis since December 2018. “Remaining in office now only makes me complicit in a situation that I abhor and which is unacceptable”, Lesmes said.
