Snow, 100 mph wind gusts reported at summit of NH’s Mount Washington

On the first official day of fall, it looked more like winter on New Hampshire’s Mount Washington.

About an inch of snow fell from Thursday to Friday, and a wind gust of 100 miles per hour was reported on New England’s highest peak.

The Mount Washington Observatory posted several photos on Twitter on Friday from the summit that showed a glaze of ice and frost covering panels and surfaces, while icicles dangled from railings off a road.

Observatory officials warned that snow and ice would continue through Saturday.
