Snead State will host the Northeast Alabama Heart Walk

BOAZ, Ala. (WHNT) – Snead State Community College will host a pop-up heart walk for the American Heart Association (AHA) next week.

The walk of the heart will take place on Wednesday, April 20 from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the college’s Boaz campus.

“We have a goal of raising $2,500 between our students, faculty and staff, and the community,” said Lindsey King, Snead State event coordinator. “We hope to be able to exceed this goal with your help. We have all had family and friends who have had heart disease. It’s time to come together to walk in their honor, their memory, or simply to go out and enjoy the good weather.

This is Snead State’s first year participating in the Northeast Alabama Heart Walk. Many teams have already been formed for the walk, including a team of students from Snead, another made up of faculty and staff, and community teams.

The walk begins in the parking lot of Plunkett Wallace Gymnasium and goes around the administration building block. There is no cost to walk, but registration is recommended and fundraising is encouraged.

“Our campus lends itself well to a scenic, safe and enjoyable walking experience,” King continued. “Whether you like to walk miles or just half a block, it’s all about supporting a great cause.”

All funds raised by the walk will go to the American Heart Association. Registrations are available here.
