The Board of Directors of the Moroccan Society of Tourism Engineering “SMIT” met on Monday under the chairmanship of Fatim-Zahra Ammor, Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts and Social and Solidarity Economy. The opportunity for the Minister to recall that the SMIT, an engineering tool of the State, borrows a new paradigm of intervention which aims to improve the effectiveness of its intervention and this, through the establishment of a digital platform for the dematerialization of its business processes, the expansion of its scope of intervention by supporting the transformation and promotion of the creation of tourist VSMEs, as well as the management of incentives in favor of boosting investment public or private tourism. “This new paradigm places the SMIT in the recovery plan for the Tourism sector”, notes the Minister.
The CA allowed the accounts for the financial year ended on 31/12/2021 to be closed. Thus, for the year 2021, SMIT achieved a positive net result. This year was marked by the continuity of the Company’s cost optimization efforts, an effort to mobilize financing for the benefit of product development as well as controlled planning of actions to boost tourism investment.
In 2022, the year of the resumption of tourism activity, “the SMIT has mobilized strongly to prevent the implementation of the emergency plan to support the recovery of the tourism sector strongly impacted by the pandemic, in ensuring the implementation and operational management of several mechanisms that are currently being implemented,” said a press release from the ministry.
Rich in experience in the field of management of cross-functional development programs, SMIT will ensure, in 2022, the mission of scheduling, steering and coordination of the FORSA program which aims to promote entrepreneurship through a mechanism of financial support, training and support.
In its role of boosting investment, the SMIT will also be able to support the development of new projects with high added value in 2022 and will intervene in partnership with the Regions to ensure a real revival of tourist investment.
