Sir Alex Ferguson appears at training for Macarthur FC A-League side Dwight Yorke
Football’s most iconic manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, has stunned an A-League side with a surprise appearance at a training session.
Ferguson traveled to Campbelltown for training at Macarthur FC, the club where his former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke is manager.
The appearance of the 13-time English Premier League winner has left Macarthur players on the ground, with many wondering why a message saying ‘Welcome Sir Alex Ferguson’ appeared on the big screen on the ground before the Scottish manager enters the field.

Ferguson, a huge horse racing fan, would be in Australia for next Tuesday’s Golden Eagle and Melbourne Cup.
“He actually contacted me and said he would be in Sydney so he didn’t have to,” Yorke said of his former manager’s visit.
“Obviously very kind of him to come and visit our stadium here in Campbelltown.
“I thought it might have been a problem, given his age. Obviously he’s in good shape. He was happy to make the trip from town, which is a long trip.
“We’re looking for a little boost – not that we’re in a bad position – but they don’t come much bigger than Sir Alex being here, and I’m very lucky and privileged that I still have that relationship with him. How much How many times do you have someone of his talent come to this part of the world?”
Macarthur midfielder Daniel De Silva explained how surprised he and his team-mates were when Ferguson appeared in the tunnel.
“Honestly, I just saw the banner on the big screen over there. And then I was like, ‘What the hell is this?'” he said.
“And then obviously I looked and saw him. Obviously it’s a fantastic thing to have him here at the club, probably the greatest manager of all time. A fantastic experience to meet him.
“We’re going to go home and tell family and friends…this is something I never thought would happen.”
