US gymnast Simone Biles will compete in the balance beam final at the Tokyo Olympics, USA Gymnastics announced on Monday.
Biles, who has dropped out of the team competition, the all-around final and the other three individual events due to mental health issues and periods of disorientation during the performance, will be joined by his teammate and gold-medal successor on Tuesday. of the Sunisa Lee all-around competition.
Lee’s entry into the event was previously assumed, but Biles’ participation was uncertain.
The United States clinched silver in the team final after Biles left the competition following an awkward jump. Lee won all-around gold. And on Sunday, MyKayla Skinner, who replaced Biles on vault, won a surprising silver medal. Lee won bronze on uneven bars.
Skinner had hinted that Biles might be back for one last event.
