Ohio will donate $ 1 million each to five vaccinated adults in the coming weeks to encourage residents to get vaccinated, Gov. Mike DeWine said on Wednesday.
The first draw will take place on May 26 and subsequent designs will take place every Wednesday for five weeks. To win, entrants must be at least 18 years of age, reside in Ohio, and be vaccinated with at least one dose of Covid vaccine prior to the draw. The five winners will receive $ 1 million from existing federal coronavirus relief funds, DeWine said.
“I know some may say, ‘DeWine, you’re crazy! This million dollar drawing idea is a waste of money ”, the governor wrote on Twitter. “But really, the real waste at this point in the pandemic – when the vaccine is readily available to anyone who wants it – is life lost to COVID-19.”
