Shooting on Temple University campus: 2 teenage girls injured; the victims were not students

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Police say two teenage girls were fatally shot Friday night on the main campus of Temple University in North Philadelphia.

A gunman fired at the car, hitting one girl in the back and another in the arm.

The victims were not students, according to the police.

The shooting occurred around 9:30 p.m. near 15th Street and Cecil B. Moore Avenue.

Officers told Action News that four girls were in their car when teenagers approached them for a chat.

The girls tried to roll up their windows and the boys tried to keep them down.

That’s when, police say, the girls doused them with pepper spray and one of the attackers opened fire.

The girls who were shot are 17 years old. They are hospitalized in stable condition.

Police said they arrested a man armed with a gun nearby.
