Shooting in the Vatican: more details were known about the man who forcibly broke into the Holy See

The press office of the Vatican revealed more details about the outburst that occurred the day before when a subject he broke into his vehicle at full speed and circulated through the streets of the city.
The man, whose name is unknown although it was reported that he is around 40 years old and that he has Italian nationality, was arrested by one of the Swiss Guard officers when he arrived at the courtyard of San Dámaso, in the Apostolic Palace.
This Friday, after spending the night in a detention cell on the premises of the Gendarmerie Barracks, he was brought before the Justice for to declare about what happened and, later, the magistrates defined put him in a psychiatric institution.

“This afternoon, at the end of his interrogation by the (Vatican) magistrate in the presence of his lawyer, and once its status is checkedthe driver of the vehicle that illegally entered the Vatican last night he was transferred to the psychiatric department of the Santo Spirito in Sassia Hospital for compulsory medical treatment”, indicated the Holy See in a statement.
The decision of the Justice is in line with what was verified by the doctors of the Directorate of Health and Hygiene of the State of Vatican City when he was arrested, who reported that the subject was in “a serious state of psychophysical alteration”.
In any case, it is not yet known to what extent this painting will affect his final sentence.

However, this was not enough since the driver continued his march until he reached San Dámaso, where he finally stopped and got out of the vehicle “autonomously”. Without exerting any kind of resistance, despite his altered state, he was arrested by the Police.
While this persecution was taking place, another sector of Vatican security activated a radio alarm that allowed the door of the Mint to be closed in time and thus blocked access to the rear of Saint Peter’s Basilica, the gardens Vatican and the Plaza de Santa Marta -where the Pope’s residence is located-.
Although it was not the first time that someone tried to enter the Vatican by force, this episode was unusual since it is known that the entrance to this area of the city is closed to the general public, especially at night.
Even those who wish to visit St. Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican Museums during the day, as well as those who go to the Vatican pharmacy with their medical prescriptions, can do so freely but do need an entry permit for other buildings in the enclave.
