‘Shoot it’ and come back

Drew Brees weighed in on Quinn Ewers’ shoulder injury.

By posting a video of the Texas quarterback getting drilled by Alabama linebacker Dallas Turner, Brees encouraged Ewers to take a painkiller shot or other treatment and return to the game.

“If it’s an AC joint separation… in the locker room, pull it, put on a harness and the shotgun just snaps in for the rest of the game. You have this young buck! Brees wrote in an Instagram caption.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel reports that Ewers had an x-ray and would not return to the game.

Hudson Card, a sophomore who played in seven games last season, replaced Ewers in the second quarter.

Texas hooked up with Alabama in the first half, entering the locker room tied 10-10 in a game where the Crimson Tide entered as a three-touchdown favorite. The Longhorns could have taken the lead if not for a botched 20-yard field goal as time ran out in the second quarter.
