Shishkin and Energumene prepare for Queen Mother Champion Chase rematch at Cheltenham | Race News

Shishkin and Energumene are on track for a tantalizing rematch at Cheltenham on Wednesday with the pair among eight declared runners for the Betway Queen Mother Champion Chase.

The top pair contested one of the season’s races at January’s Clarence House Chase at Ascot when Nicky Henderson-trained Shishkin narrowly got away with a thrilling brawl.

Willie Mullins will also manage Energumene stable mate Tous Pour Soi, who finished third despite being strong favorites for last year’s renewal.

Everyone For Self was bitterly disappointing in the Tingle Creek at Sandown earlier in the season but has since bounced back to winning ways at Leopardstown and relations hope he can finally replicate his top-class Irish form on the floor British.

Last year’s winner Put The Kettle On is trying to retain her crown, while last year’s runner-up Nube Negra, trained by Dan Skelton, also returns, alongside 2020 goalscorer Politicalologist.

Hunter Envoi Allen, winner of the Dual Grade One, will also be there, as well as Tightrope walker Sivola, trained by Venetia Williams, who won the Grade Two Game Spirit Chase in Newbury last month.
