A deputy and a number of inmates were poisoned at the Genesee County Jail, Sheriff Chris Swanson said.
The sheriff said an inmate placed a non-narcotic in a pot of hot water at a commissary, which affected an assistant and a few inmates. All the detainees and the deputy concerned were treated in a hospital.
MPs then identified those linked to the incident, Swanson said. The sheriff added that he would put together a case to present to the Genesee County prosecutor for possible charges against those involved.
