Shelter Dogs To Be Adopted Together Marry In Sweet Wedding Ceremony

It’s not just puppy love.

Two senior pit bulls to be adopted by Homeward Animal Shelter in North Dakota formalized their devotion to each other in a dog wedding.

Fran and Earl are a “bonded couple” and are to be adopted together, shelter spokeswoman Heather Klefstad told local news station WDAY.

“We want people to see how great these dogs are,” she added. “They are sweet and adorable dogs. They deserve the best home and love. They are simply amazing.

The pup-tuals took place at the Northern Plains Botanic Garden Society in Fargo on Tuesday, with the flirty couple adorned in flower crowns. The ceremony also included canine guests in their wedding attire, a cake, and even a wedding certificate with the bride and groom’s paw prints. (See Fran and Earl’s full wedding album here.)

An adorable video showing the preparation for the ceremony also made it clear that no one had cold feet.

The shelter added on Facebook that the official “wedding reception” will take place during the organization’s annual PAWS Walk fundraiser on July 19.

Fran and Earl lived together before their time at the shelter, where they reunited when their landlord could no longer care for them, according to local news station KVRR. They are currently in a foster home together waiting for someone to adopt them permanently.

Fran’s biography on the shelter’s website calls Earl her “true love”, adding that the two dogs “both enjoy frequent cuddles and sleep every morning!” And Earl’s biography notes that he enjoys “short walks and long naps with my darling, Fran.”

Here’s hoping their honeymoon includes a great forever home!
