Several people injured, police say
Several people have been injured after a shooting at a South Carolina mall, police said Saturday.
Police in Columbia, the capital of South Carolina, responded to reports of shots being fired at the Columbiana Center mall, about 10 miles from downtown Columbia.
The police said people were receiving medical treatment after being injured, but did not say how many people were injured in the incident.
In a tweetpolice instructed employees to continue to shelter in place inside the mall until officers can escort them: “DO NOT leave a store until instructed to do so by the proper authorities.”
A regrouping site has been set up in a nearby hotel, according to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.
