“Late Night” host Seth Meyers didn’t hesitate Monday, devoting an entire 10-minute segment to the roasting of former New York mayor and Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani.
Giuliani has been in the defense since an FBI raid on his home and office last week brought renewed focus and intensity to the Justice Department’s investigation into its trade relations with Ukraine. He appeared on several media programs to defend his actions and sought to blame President Joe Biden, his son Hunter and others for his problems, despite the fact that the investigation began during Trump’s tenure.
In some of those interviews, Giuliani apparently went out of his way to incriminate himself and his former client, Meyers said. Giuliani also argued that the content on his devices was protected by attorney-client privilege, even though he repeatedly shared content from his phone on TV.
“I’m no legal expert, but I’m pretty sure the attorney-client privilege disappears when you read the documents aloud on national television. “OK, you are all my clients,” Meyers joked. “It’s like the stupid criminal version of your grandmother reading you a funny meme she met on Facebook.”
