Seriously injured motorcyclist collides with tractor-trailer in Naperville

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (CBS) – A motorcyclist is in serious condition after colliding with a tractor-trailer in Naperville on Wednesday morning.

Police and firefighters were dispatched to the intersection of Illinois Route 59 and 95th Street around 10:24 a.m.

The motorcyclist, a 37-year-old male from Naperville, on a gray 2012 Kawasaki was traveling southbound when he crossed the intersection and collided with a westbound semi-truck. The motorcycle caught fire causing the fire of the trailer of the semi-trailer, according to the police.

Due to the nature of the accident, traffic accident reconstruction specialists from the Naperville Police Department Traffic Unit and the Metropolitan Emergency Response and Investigation Team ( MERIT) came to the scene to investigate.

Parts of Route 59 and 95th Street southbound in Illinois have been closed for investigation. Roads reopened around 4:33 p.m.

The accident investigation is ongoing.
