Senate Bill 57: Pushing Governor Gavin Newsom to Sign Legislation on Safe Injection Sites in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Oakland

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — On Wednesday, Bay Area officials, including State Senator Scott Wiener, will call on Governor Gavin Newsom to sign legislation legalizing safe injection sites.

There will be a press conference on Senate Bill-57 beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Ellis Street in San Francisco at Glide Memorial Church.

We will stream the press conference in the video player above.

If signed into law, the bill would legalize safe injection sites in San Francisco, Oakland and parts of the Los Angeles area.

Sites provide hygienic environments for people who use drugs, and staff can help prevent overdose deaths and provide other services.
