A woman named Shannon “Shay” Ruth affirm that Nick Carter sexually assaulted her after inviting her to street boys‘ tour bus in 2001, according to court documents obtained by HollywoodLife. The woman, who has cerebral palsy and autism, further alleged that Nick gave her a drink he called “VIP juice”, which she said included alcohol. Shannon alleges that Nick asked her to perform oral sex on him in the bathroom of the band’s tour bus, and she claims the alleged sexual assault then continued on a bed.
Shannon says she was a virgin at the time of the alleged incident and claims she contracted HPV afterwards, so she is seeking damages. She also claims that she warned Nick that she would tell someone what happened on the bus, but he threatened her and insisted that no one believed her. Shannon detailed the alleged encounter in her filing and said she cried throughout the alleged incident.
“The past 21 years have been filled with pain, confusion, frustration, shame and self-harm which are a direct result of the rape of Nick Carter,” the 39-year-old said at the press conference for the December 8. you can see above. “Even though I have autism and live with cerebral palsy, I believe nothing has affected me more or had a more lasting impact on my life than what Nick Carter did and told me. After he raped me, I remember him calling me a “horny bitch”, grabbing me and leaving bruises on my arm.
During the press conference, she added, “Carter tried to shut me up…he was mean and threatening.” Shannon said she was initially hesitant to come forward because she thought she was ‘going to jail’, but now she wants to ‘stop ‘Nick’ from assaulting more teenagers and women’ and that be held “responsible”. HollywoodLife contacted Nick’s rep for comment, but we haven’t heard back yet.
Nick has not publicly commented on the ordeal, but a source close to him said TMZ that the accusations are “categorically false”. In 2017, the singer Melissa Schuman accused Nick of raping her more than 15 years prior. Nick denied these charges on the record and he was never charged with any crime. Prosecutors did not prosecute Nick in this case because the statute of limitations on the charges had expired.
Nick is currently in the middle of a tour with the Backstreet Boys, which will stop for the holidays and then resume in 2023. He is also mourning the death of his brother, Aaron Carter, who died at home on November 5. Although Aaron and Nick had a tumultuous relationship, filled with ups and downs, Nick was devastated by the loss of his younger brother. “My heart is broken,” he wrote on Instagram after Aaron’s death. “Even though my brother and I had a complicated relationship, my love for him never faded.” He also added, “I will miss my brother more than anyone will ever know. I love you Chizz. Now you can finally have the peace you could never find here on Earth.
