See How The Fallout 4 Next-Gen Update Compares To The Old Version
More than eight years later, Fallout 4 may be more popular than ever, thanks to Amazon Prime Video’s TV show based on the video game franchise. On top of that, Bethesda Game Studios has just released a next-gen update for the post-apocalyptic RPG originally released in 2015. One of the main features of this patch is the updated visuals on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
GameSpot has a comparison video (see below) that shows Fallout 4 running on Xbox Series The main difference between the two versions is the frame rate. The improvement is noticeable even with quality mode after the next-gen update, and a performance mode is also available. Otherwise, the visual quality seems quite similar between versions.
Aside from the framerate improvements, Fallout 4’s next-gen update also adds new Creation Club content to the RPG. For example, check out our guide Echoes of the Past, a new quest that focuses on the Enclave faction in Massachusetts.
Unfortunately, the free Fallout 4 update is bugged for PS5 players who already got the game through the old PS Plus Collection. For now, Bethesda has attempted to clear up some confusion by stating: “The next-gen update for Fallout 4 will be available to PlayStation Plus Extra members through the PlayStation Game Catalog.”
