A former administrator of a high school in Iowa, who was under investigation for sexual misconduct involving a student, committed suicide this week.

Guillaume Terry, 47, was found dead in his basement Thursday from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Ames, Iowa police, according to PEOPLE.

Officers entered his house under a search and arrest warrant and heard a gunshot coming from inside the residence.

“Officers found a deceased adult male in the basement of the residence,” Marshalltown police said. “The preliminary results of the investigation indicate that the man shot himself. No one else present was injured. No policeman unloaded his weapons.

Earlier this month, police found the body of Adam Eugene Edgeton, 42, in his car. The Nevada native reportedly died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound one day after being accused of sexual exploitation of a 13-year-old student. Edington also worked with the Iowa School District and was under investigation after alleged inappropriate relationships with a minor.

Terry was an assistant principal at Marshalltown High School. Her death came after a July 6 report was sent to Marshalltown Police Department alleging that there was “potential sexual exploitation and inappropriate sexual touching between a former school employee and a former student.” , according to a police press release.

“The former staff member was under police investigation into allegations involving a former student,” said the Marshalltown Community School District superintendent. Theron Schutte confirmed in a press release, according to the Times-Republican.

Meanwhile, a third former district employee has also been arrested in the past two months for sexual misconduct with a student.

Former high school physical education teacher Marc Esquivel, 26, was arrested on June 30 for a crime of sexual exploitation after allegedly attempting to solicit sex with a 17-year-old on numerous occasions.

“The allegations being investigated by the Marshalltown Police Department involve inappropriate communication and sexual touching between a former Marshalltown School employee and a former student,” Marshalltown Police said of of the Esquivel case.

“Student safety is the number one priority for the Marshalltown CSD, and any accusation of a crime that may impact student safety is taken very seriously,” the school principal said in a statement. .

“The Marshalltown CSD has taken swift action to respond to recent allegations of misconduct against former employees and will continue to cooperate fully with the MPD. As a result of these allegations, the district is reviewing all existing selection and hiring processes. The district will also provide additional training on ethics and staff responsibilities, and review the program to ensure that all students are instructed on how to report – and empowered to seek help – if a situation of concern. occurs, ”the statement continued.
