Scott Parker admitted he didn’t know the Club Brugge team and the Belgian league when he was recently appointed.
The former West Ham and Tottenham midfielder’s former position was at Bournemouth, but he was sacked in August following the 9-0 loss to Liverpool.
Parker was able to find a new position, however, this time with Belgian champions and Champions League side Brugge.
However, the 42-year-old has revealed that the Belgian First Division is something new for him and his new squad of players.
Speaking at his press conference, he said: “Over time, in terms of the football club, I understand that.
“In league terms, probably not as much. But certainly as a football club and Club Brugge fully understand what it was all about with a great history.
“The team and where they are at the moment in terms of actual details in the team, I think that would probably be a bit unfair on my part, and it certainly won’t be with the greatest amount of knowledge as as such.
“I have an understanding of individuals and players, but I wouldn’t really like to comment on that at this time.”

Despite being unfamiliar with his new surroundings, Parker is eager for the challenge.
He commented, “I’m excited, I really like the look of the team, I like the look of the individuals, and the team did really well for big games.”
Brugge are currently fourth in the Belgian football top flight and 12 points behind leaders Genk.
They are also through to the Champions League Round of 16 and will face Benfica in February in hopes of reaching the quarter-finals.
