The Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) confirmed the negative to suspend the Register of Mobile Telephony Users (Panaut) as requested by opposition senators and by the National Institute of Transparency, Access to Information and Protection of Personal Data (INAI).

The foregoing, in the context of the second public session that took place this Wednesday, in which the five ministers that make up the Second room of the highest court in the country, determined by unanimity, do not stop the application of the Panaut in all its aspects.

So far, the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) has won in the SCJN a suspension against the Panaut, only so that you do not allocate part of your budget to the realization of this registry.

In this sense, suspension of the obligation to install, operate, regulate and maintain the Panaut was decreed considering that with its implementation “There is an imminent budget allocation IFT, which may jeopardize your constitutional autonomy”.

In a statement, the IFT recalled that on May 26 filed a constitutional appeal against the various provisions contained in the registry.

On that occasion, the IFT stated that “does not have the resources to fulfill the legislative mandate to launch the Panaut registry under its budget ”.

The opinion was approved by the Plenary with 54 votes in favor, 49 votes against and 10 abstentions in general, and with 56 in favor, 52 against and seven abstentions specifically. It will be sent to the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, for your signature and publication. Then it will come into force and the pattern will begin to be developed.
