Scenic NJ Town Named One of America’s Most Beautiful

A prestigious travel publication has named a picturesque town in the Garden State one of the most beautiful in America.

Editors at Conde Nast Traveler recently released its list of more than two dozen of the most beautiful cities in America, which examines cities large and small from coast to coast.

About their efforts, they say,

America has some great cities, sure, but America’s most beautiful cities offer something of their own. Whether they have an exaggerated American charm or are close to some of the most beautiful landscapes on the planet, these idylls are worth at least a stopover. And don’t worry, you won’t run out of things to do: these little towns are home to local shops, tons of outdoor activities, and restaurant-to-people ratios that tip in your favor.

And among those dozens of towns is one of the brightest gems in the entire state of New Jersey.

Here’s a hint: it’s a beach town.

But which one? As we all know, there is no shortage of magnificent cities along the coast.

The area around 96th Street in Stone Harbor could definitely qualify.

Avalon is definitely worthy of an award.

Any town on Long Beach Island could have won.

Why Cap May?

Specifically, about Cape May, Conde Nast said,

A perfect marriage of charm and history, the city’s historic Victorian Quarter and miles of intricate candy-colored mansions make for a great morning stroll. The small peninsula also offers some of the best bird watching in the country and, from March to December, fantastic whale watching.

Of course, anyone who has spent time in Cape May immediately plans a return trip.

The city has countless bed and breakfasts, a bandstand in the middle of town with live music, colorful streets, charming family restaurants, shops selling everything under the sun, amazing beaches, and more Again.

And, of course, a lighthouse that has guided sailors for over 160 years.

What other cities are as beautiful as Cape May?

Other cities on the list include:

  • Taos, New Mexico
  • Harpers Ferry, West Virginia
  • Nantucket, MA
