Saturday’s Powerball $1.6 Billion Winning Numbers Announced – NBC Chicago

The Powerball jackpot reached an estimated record $1.6 billion for Saturday’s draw, making it the biggest lottery prize in history.

The winning numbers: 28-45-53-56-69 Powerball: 20 Power play: 3x

At 1:27 a.m. ET Sunday, the California Lottery reported a delay in finalizing draw results. When you access the California Lottery page, a statement reads: “Powerball is experiencing a delay in finalizing the National Draw results which will determine the new jackpot amount and pay out winning tickets. Please save your tickets and come back later. We apologize for the inconvenience.”

The new jackpot surpasses the previous record prize of $1.586 billion won in 2016 by three Powerball players in California, Florida and Tennessee. Long-time players and first-timers flocked to buy tickets ahead of Saturday’s draw, according to The Associated Press.

No one has hit all six numbers since August 3. That’s 39 consecutive draws without a jackpot winner. The winless streak is down to the abysmal odds of winning: one in 292.2 million.

The longer the game lasts without a grand prize winner, the higher the payout will increase.

Powerball is played in 45 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. It costs $2 to play.

Do you think you have a chance of winning the lottery? Well, you do! But it’s a very, very small chance. Here are some things that are more likely to happen to you.
