Sandy Springs charged with the murder of its owner | News

A woman is behind bars accused of the murder of her 73-year-old owner.

According to Sandy Springs Police, on April 5, officers were dispatched to an “unknown trouble” call at a home in Fawndale Way.

“When the officers arrived, they encountered the suspect in the garage holding an object and defying the officers. After a brief struggle with the police, she was overpowered and taken into custody, ”according to a police statement.

While the police investigated further, they found Marlene D. Colon, 73, dead in another room. A police spokesperson said Colon had visible injuries.

Investigators determined, according to a police spokesperson, that Colon was the owner and that she was renting a room inside her house in Chelci Chisholm, 59.

Police charged Chisholm with malicious murder.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the exact cause of Colon’s death.

Detectives did not disclose the motive for the crime and anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Voronkov SVoronkov@SandySpringsGA.Gov or by calling 770-551-2562.
