BOCA RATON, Florida. – UNCW Beach Volleyball dropped both games Friday as the Seahawks fell 4-1 to Palm Beach Atlantic and 5-0 to the nationally ranked Florida Gulf Coast at the FAU Beach Burrow Bash.
The Seahawks saw the record slip to 4-2 with backhands.
Against PBA, Ellie Bucci and Tessa Rogers won the fourth pair in three sets, beating his opponent in the third set, 18-16. Tyla Cutrie and Kaley McLaughlin fell to Lorrayne Silva and Carolina Henderson of the PBA by the scores of 21-19 and 21-17 in the fifth pair.
FGCU, who are ranked 12th, took a 5-0 victory in the second game of the afternoon. As in the first meeting, the Seahawks received their best game of four and five pairs. Bucci and Rogers were down 21-17, 21-19 and Cutrie and McLaughlin were swept, 21-17, 21-14.
The Seahawks will face Austin Peay and the nationally ranked FAU on Saturday at 8 a.m. and noon, respectively.
