San Mateo man arrested in connection with hit-and-run that injured pedestrian, killed dog
SAN MATEO — A 31-year-old man was arrested in connection with a hit-and-run that injured a pedestrian and killed a dog Friday morning in San Mateo, police said.
The incident happened around 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of 42nd Avenue and Edison Street, San Mateo police said in a news release. Police arrived and found the victim on the ground and bleeding.
The victim was taken to hospital, where his condition was stable Friday evening.
Police said the victim was walking her daughter’s dog, Lola, at the time. The dog died instantly.
Officers canvassed the neighborhood for footage of the incident and determined the suspect was driving a white Toyota Tacoma. The suspect and the truck were later found in San Carlos.
The suspect, a San Mateo resident, was arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Jail on charges of hit-and-run resulting in injury and hit-and-run resulting in property damage.
