The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 was launched worldwide, including India, on Wednesday at the highly anticipated Galaxy Unpacked event. The smartphone is the fourth iteration of the South Korean company’s line of foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z series. According to Samsung, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 offers an exceptional photo experience, is the company’s most powerful smartphone to date. and sports lighter and slimmer dimensions than older generations of handsets. It comes with an under-display camera, a 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex display, and a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC under the hood. The handset debuts alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 4, another foldable smartphone with a clamshell design.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 price in India, availability
The price of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 in India has not been announced. It is available in 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant, 12GB RAM + 512GB storage, and the high-end 12GB RAM + 1TB storage variant (Samsung.com Exclusive). The starting price of the Samsung smartphone in other markets is $1,799.99 (approximately Rs. 1,42,700).
As for availability, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 will be available in Beige, Graygreen, and Phantom Black colors. There is also a Burgundy color option exclusive to Samsung.com.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 Specifications
The dual SIM (nano) Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is the first smartphone that runs on One UI 4.1.1 based on Android 12L, a special version of Android created by Google for large-screen experiences, including foldables. The smartphone features a 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex Display as the primary display. It has a QXGA+ resolution (2,176 x 1,812 pixels) and an aspect ratio of 21.6:18. It is an LTPO display and the refresh rate can start from 1Hz up to 120Hz. As for the cover display, the smartphone has a 6X dynamic AMOLED 2X display .2-inch HD+ (904 x 2,316 pixels) with up to 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and 23.1:9 aspect ratio.
Samsung says the phone has an armored aluminum frame and hinge cover for structural durability. The cover screen and rear panel are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+. The main screen panel gets an optimized layer structure for durability. Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 gets a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC which is paired with 12GB of RAM as standard.
For photos and videos, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 has a total of five cameras: one on the cover display, one under the display camera on the main screen, and three on the rear panel. The triple rear camera features a 50-megapixel primary sensor paired with an f/1.8 aperture lens. It offers dual-pixel autofocus, optical image stabilization (OIS), and an 85-degree field of view. There’s a secondary 12-megapixel sensor paired with an ultra-wide f/2.2 aperture lens that has a 123-degree field of view. The third 10-megapixel sensor is paired with an f/2.4 telephoto lens. It offers OIS, Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) and 30X Space Zoom (assisted by AI Super Resolution technology).
The front camera under the main screen of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 has a 4-megapixel sensor which is paired with an f/1.8 aperture lens. The front camera on the cover display has a 10-megapixel sensor paired with an f/2.2 lens.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 comes with up to 1TB of internal storage. Connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth v5.2, and a USB Type-C port. On-board sensors include a side fingerprint sensor, accelerometer, barometer, gyro sensor, geomagnetic sensor, proximity sensor, and light sensor. The smartphone gets a dual 4400mAh battery and Samsung claims that with its 25W charger (sold separately), the phone can charge up to 50% in around 30 minutes. It also comes with PowerShare wireless charging support.
Other features of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 include a new taskbar for multitasking in the latest One UI software, support for quickly copying and pasting links, photos and more from one app to another ( Google apps), an optimized experience for popular social media. apps like Facebook, Flex mode, Samsung Knox security, S Pen support, and IPX8 rating for dust and water resistance. It measures 130.1 x 155.1 x 6.3mm when unfolded and weighs 263g.
