Samsung Galaxy Watch6 family will ship with larger batteries than Watch5 devices

Samsung’s next Galaxy Watch6 family is expected to be unveiled alongside the company’s next-gen foldables, most likely at an event in August. While waiting for the summer to arrive, we get more details about the devices that will make up the Watch6 family, except for the Pro.

The Galaxy Watch6 will be offered in two sizes, just like the Galaxy Watch6 Classic. Thanks to a certification list from a regulator in China, we now know that these will share battery capacities for smaller and larger sizes as follows.

Samsung Galaxy Watch5

The Galaxy Watch6 40mm and the Galaxy Watch6 Classic 42mm will both have a 300mAh battery. The Galaxy Watch6 44mm and the Galaxy Watch6 Classic 46mm will both have a 425mAh battery.

Incidentally, both of these capacities are higher than what we saw last year, when the Galaxy Watch5 had to settle for 284mAh for the 40mm size and 410mAh for the 44mm size.

A recent rumor claimed that Samsung is bringing back the rotating bezel this year speculating that it will be coming for the Galaxy Watch6 Pro, but it could very well be in the Classic line as well, and so the thicker bezel is likely what explains the jump in 2mm in size compared to vanilla models.
