Sam Ash Music closing all Southern California stores
Another local retailer will close its doors in the coming months.
Sam Ash Music announced on the company’s Facebook page that it would close its seven locations in Southern California, part of a nationwide closure of all 42 stores.
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce that all Sam Ash Music stores will begin closing their stores today,” the company said in a statement. “This unfortunate news also presents a fantastic opportunity to score great deals on our premium selection of professional musical instruments and sound equipment.”
“We will also be offering special offers on samash.com during this period. Thank you for allowing us to serve musicians like you for 100 years. With much love and deep gratitude, The Ash Family.
Sam Ash did not provide a reason for the decision, but an employee told the Orange County Register that stores in Los Angeles, Hollywood, Ontario, Westminster, Torrance, Puente Hills and San Diego would be closed by August .
The company is offering discounts on merchandise and said all sales are final.
The store was founded in 1924 by Sam Ash, an Austrian immigrant, and his wife Rose Dinin, a native of Russia. The family business has been selling musical instruments and equipment for 100 years.
The company’s motto is “Come in and Play,” encouraging musicians to perform inside the store.
Last month, 99 Cents Only announced the closure of all of its locations. Many brick-and-mortar retailers have struggled since the pandemic, while internet-based businesses have continued to grow.
