Sadio Mane is a big cry for the Ballon d’Or if Liverpool win a quadruple, claims Peter Crouch
Former Liverpool star Peter Crouch believes Sadio Mane could be ready to scream for the Ballon d’Or if the Reds manage to win the treble this season. The Senegal striker has been in fine form this season, scoring 20 goals in all competitions, including 14 league goals as well.
Despite struggling with form last season, Sadio Mane still managed to end the campaign with a rather impressive sixteen goals and nine assists in all competitions. However, despite this, many have written off the striker simply because of Diogo Jota’s arrival, but the 30-year-old has turned critics’ heads with his performances this term. Not only has Mane scored 20 goals in all competitions, but the striker has also played a vital role for Senegal in their run for the AFCON trophy.
That, combined with the fact that Liverpool are ready to scream to win the treble, has Mane and Mohamed Salah highly touted for the Ballon d’Or if it happens. But Peter Crouch believes Mane winning the AFCON gives him an edge and if Liverpool win the treble then “it should almost certainly go to a Liverpool player” with Salah and Mane among the top picks.
“Mane is a big shout. He’s already won the Afcon, and if he goes on to win the Champions League, the Premier League and if Liverpool complete the treble, he should almost certainly go to a Liverpool player, then [Mohamed] Salah and Mane are your stars for that,” Crouch said, Goal reported
