Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney beam with pride despite Wrexham missing FA Cup tie with Tottenham after loss to Sheffield United
Wrexham’s FA Cup adventure came to an end as they suffered a 3-1 loss to Sheffield United in a valiant effort in the fourth round replay.
An emphatic Paul Mullin penalty nullified Anel Ahmedhodzic’s earlier effort but the striker missed a great chance to put the National League side ahead as Mullin’s second penalty of the night was saved by Adam Davies.
The Welsh side were then punished for their lack of composure as Billy Sharp put the Blades ahead in the fourth minute of stoppage time following an error by Max Cleworth.
Sander Berge made it 3-1 with a powerful finish to secure a home tie against Tottenham in the fifth round.
It’s heartbreaking for a Wrexham side, who were themselves moments away from victory over their Championship opponents and a glamorous draw against a Premier League side when the two teams met last month.
However, co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney both expressed pride in the team.
