UFC bantamweight rivals Petr Yan and Aljamain Sterling have upped their regular trading of insults one step further as a new date for their rescheduled title rematch was set.

The 135-pound stars have clashed since the Russian was disqualified and stripped of his crown at UFC 259 last March for dropping an illegal knee on the Jamaican-American on the ground.

They were set for a second meeting at the end of 2021, but Sterling withdrew to have neck surgery, which forced Yan to become the interim champion in the meantime by knocking out contender Cory Sandhagen via a victory by dominant unanimous decision on Halloween weekend.

With Sterling now recovered, there can be no more excuses as their sequel was written for UFC 273 at Barclay’s Center on April 9 – as confirmed by the fighter himself.

“The Funkmaster,” however, suggested that it was Yan who had delayed things, possibly because he was not vaccinated, and not Sterling with his injury.

“They are talking about postponing our fight until April”, Sterling told subscribers to his podcast.

“Not because of me, that’s what I was told: Yan is not vaccinated so he cannot fight in March.

“If that’s the real reason, I actually respect his position – but that doesn’t make sense. Will he be vaccinated in April? I do not think so.

“So what do we do? I just want to know when we’re fighting because I just want to hit each other in the face. I hope we can figure this out as soon as possible. We can unify these belts and see who really is.” the guy’.”

Picking up the accusations on social media, Sterling said: “I guess Chetr and I are still in the process of withdrawing from the fighting for serious injuries. Oh wait… ‘personal reasons’ are not an injury, I’m coming for your boy! Trust me!”

On Instagram, Sterling also seemed more certain of an actual date while appearing to show off a UFC contract on his cell phone.

“On April 9, we’re going to boil, bake, then fry this Chetr potato head!” he wrote. “PS: They postponed the fight because of Yan, not me.”

Defending his corner, Yan retaliated by calling Sterling a “Pathetic liar desperately trying to look good and control the narrative.”

“But that won’t work,” Yan added. “I am vaccinated and ready to strike you anywhere, even tomorrow. [The] The UFC just doesn’t want to [a] false champion headlining the event. “

“I’m just repeating what the bosses told me”, Sterling claimed. “Do not take your potato ass in a jiffy!

“I’d love to fuck you tomorrow too. It can easily be arranged,” he swore, before calling Yan a “mouse” in Russian.

“Yan said he was vaccinated. So someone is telling lies Anyway, I can’t wait to beat this man’s ass properly **”, Sterling has said elsewhere.

By uploading a blood video submitted to USADA, Sterling also demanded that Yan “Play by the rules” and called her “Pete the cheater”.

A follower savagely suggested that the delays in the rematch could also be due to Yan’s need. “It’s time to get rid of his Russian Super Soldier Serum.”

“Personally that’s what I believe” Sterling responded.

“[It’s the] the second time around, something practical arises for a fight to be pushed for Yan.

“He claims he’s already vaccinated. So why did the authorities postpone the fight? One can only wonder, right? December 12 is now the March 5 fight.”

“In fact, we’ve been told the fight has been moved to April 9 so they can have a backup ready when you step down again, bitch,” Yan came back to that, as Sterling pondered the availability of formerly banned TJ Dillashaw, whom he called “Shaw needle”.

“The fact that you’re delusional enough to think that another fighter ‘groans’ at you tickles my balls more than he’ll when I drop them on your face on April 9,” Sterling replied.

“Every last word you say will be hilarious to say to you as I pound your face hard.”

With just under three months to go to fight night, prepare for more of the same and worse in preparation for one of the most anticipated back-to-back fights in years.

As Yan hinted at, this is a card that is co-titled by Featherweight Sovereign Alexander Volkanovski’s showdown with Chan Sung Jung after Max Holloway had to withdraw from a bout of trilogy with the Australian.

While for Sterling this will be a first title defense, Yan can reclaim the strap he captured in July 2020 by defeating Jose Aldo and can once again face the rising Brazilian or Dillashaw in a legacy fight. he is crowned again.
