Russian army repels another drone attack on Crimea – authorities – RT Russia and the former Soviet Union

At least two drones were shot down by Black Sea Fleet forces, Sevastopol governor says
Several Ukrainian drones attempted to strike Sevastopol on Thursday morning, according to the governor of the Crimean port city which is home to Russia’s Black Sea Fleet. The attack was reportedly repelled without any damage from the drones.
“Early in the morning, our soldiers repelled another drone attack on Sevastopol”, Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev wrote in a Telegram message around 6 a.m.
At least two drones were shot down with small arms by Black Sea Fleet forces, while “several others” were neutralized and shot down using electronic warfare, the official said. The military has yet to issue a statement.
“No city facility was damaged,” Razvozhaev said, adding that all security services “continue to monitor the situation.”
Crimea, home to major Russian naval installations, has repeatedly been the target of Ukrainian attacks in the ongoing conflict. Kiev insists on taking back all of its former territories from Russia, including the peninsula, which voted in a referendum to join Russia in 2014 following the Western-backed Maidan coup.
During the conflict, Ukraine also repeatedly used marine drones to target the Russian Black Sea Fleet. On Wednesday, the Russian Navy reconnaissance vessel “Ivan Churs” repelled an attack by three unmanned speedboats, according to the Defense Ministry.
Several previous attempts to strike warships stationed in the port of Sevastopol have also failed, with unmanned speedboats being detected and destroyed as they approach, or getting caught in the port’s protective net.
