Russia has started a planned “combat readiness” inspection of its army, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said. A total of 4,048 exercises of various scopes are planned for the month of April.
Large-scale military exercises as part of the combat readiness checks for the winter training period have been launched among Russian troops, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said on April 6. “In accordance with the training plan for the armed forces, checks have started in the military command centers, military units and formations”, declared the general of the armed forces.
“The troops moved to training grounds to organize tactical exercises, special tactical exercises and force-on-force. I am responsible for ensuring a high quality of controls and security in the movement of military echelons and military equipment, ”added Sergueï Choïgou.
A total of 4,048 exercises of various scope, including 812 simulated force-on-force collective training exercises, will take place in April at 101 training fields and 520 facilities. The exercises are being carried out on the territory of all military districts of the county and the Northern Fleet, as well as in the regions of the Far North, the Kuril Islands and the Kamchatka Peninsula, according to data from the Russian Ministry of Defense.
All branches and military services of the Russian armed forces will be involved in combat readiness checks. A commission of the Russian General Staff will carry out an inspection in the Eastern Military District of Russia as part of the exercises. The main combat training will take place at the Tsugol and Sergeyevsky training grounds in the Eastern Military District, the ministry said.
