Rugby World Cup 2023 LIVE: France vs Uruguay score and latest updates
Rugby World Cup: France gets off to a flying start against New Zealand in the opening match
Uruguay begin their Rugby World Cup campaign with a tough opening encounter against hosts France at the Stade Pierre Mauroy in Lille.
Although they are big underdogs, Esteban Meneses’ side have plenty of quality in their squad and Los Teros created a real shock by beating Fiji in one of the tournament matches four years ago. They are aiming for a third place in Pool A and a shock victory against France would make that goal more achievable.
On the other hand, Fabien Galthie’s team are among the favorites for the tournament, especially after putting in a superb opening performance against New Zealand at the Stade de France, which puts them in pole position to dominate Pool A. Galthie leaves the most of its regular starters rested for this match. , due to the short time frame after this opening clash and the fact that Uruguay are unlikely to provide an 80-minute challenge.
