“After tremendous theatrical success, crossing 13 million tickets sold on BookMyShow for the film, we are absolutely thrilled to announce that RRR (Hindi) will be making an exclusive appearance on BookMyShow Stream on May 20th for fans who missed it in theaters or those wanting a second watch, from the comfort of their own home,” BookMyShow Cinemas COO Ashish Saksena said in a prepared statement. “Excitement and interest in the film continues to peak with the early hours of pre-booking. It’s already off to a memorable start. It’s a testament to the sheer grandeur, iconic characters, creative effect and of the film’s immersive storyline that opened doors for pan-Indian cross-cultural adoption.

“With movies like RRR and Gangubai Kathiwadi making their way to BookMyShow Stream, we are confident that more major Indian studios and top tier producers will embrace the model (transactional video on demand, or TVOD) and utilize this category for the economic potential it is able to generate. It is only a matter of time before TVOD finds itself among the compelling forms of cinema consumption after a theatrical release for movies in India.

Directed by Rajamouli from a script by his father KV Vijayendra Prasad, RRR revolves around the fictional friendship between Jr tribal leader NTR Bheem and Ram Charan’s revolutionary Alluri Sitarama Raju.
