Roy Keane may not be a fan of dancing celebrations at the World Cup, but taking your shirt off in a kick is another matter.
Normally reserved when scoring during an iconic career for Manchester United and the Republic of Ireland, Keane staged arguably the most passionate celebration he’s ever staged for one of football’s great rivalries.
With football taking a two-day break between the World Cup round of 16 and quarter-finals, a grudge match took place as ITV took on the BBC.
And in what looked to be the highlight of the match, Keane struck home on the rebound, past fellow Sky Sports player Micah Richards.
They were rivals on this occasion, however, as the ITV man rejoiced with a gigantic grin on his face.
He then took off his shirt and jumped into a nearby wheelie bin before being mobbed by his teammates.
Nor was it surprising, with the ITV social team claiming it was a game-winning golden goal, and Keane didn’t score much better.
Known as a curmudgeonly figure during his pungent box office career, many will be surprised to see Keane throwing such an effusive celebration.
