Becky Brewerton took home the £ 10,000 top prize for her play-off victory at Brokenhurst Manor

Becky Brewerton won her first Rose Ladies Series title with a dramatic play-off victory in the third round of the season at Brokenhurst Manor.

Brewerton posted a par 70 under tough conditions at the Hampshire site to join Liz Young and Brogan Townend at the top of the standings, before defeating the pair at the second extra playoff.

Playing in the opening group of the day, Brewerton birdied the first hole but bogeyed the next par-five, before taking a shot in the fourth and canceling out a par three-fifth fault by birdieing. tap-in on the sixth.

The 38-year-old managed three consecutive bogeys from the seventh to reach the turn in 37, to rebound with birdies in the 12th and 18th to secure the clubhouse goal.

Townend mixed three birdies with that many bogeys to get a par 70 as well, with Young – last week’s winner – completing the top trio after missing a birdie opportunity for victory on the final green.

Liz Young narrowly missed her back-to-back Rose Ladies Series wins

Thalia Martin birdied the last hole to complete a return stroke tied for fourth alongside Australian Whitney Hillier, while Gabriella Cowley – winner of the season opener at West Lancs – was another comeback after a two of 72.

Veterans Trish Johnson and Dame Laura Davies both finished with five points, while Emily Toy also won a share of the 20th as she finished her round with three bogeys in the last five holes.
