The ex-wife of Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich is locked up in her London mansion, fearing her $650million fortune could be at risk because of sanctions, a former security guard claims.
The ex-soldier, who traveled the world with the now disgraced multi-billionaire, said Irina Abramovich ‘lived in fear’ that her posh lifestyle would become a thing of the past, he said at the Sun.
Irina, 55, had five children with Abramovich before their divorce in 2007. She is a former flight attendant.
Abramovich’s assets have been frozen in the UK. Its $1.5 billion superyacht Eclipse was recently spotted in the Mediterranean.
Irina has yet to come under official pressure over her ex’s money, The Sun reported.
The former security guard told The Sun: “There is wealth and wealth – and then there is Roman Abramovich-inspired money. This sparked the opulence of the scale.
Irina “has always been Harrods’ No. 1 customer,” said the Guardian.
“She’s had a ton of designer clothes. It’s the Imelda Marcos of London.
The former guard added: “Irina is usually in town every night. Now she doesn’t know where to turn. She fears her days in the UK are over for good.
