Rohit Sharma, who has been out of form in the tournament this year, gave the team a strong start on Tuesday at Wankhede Stadium. Chasing a total of 194, Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan shared a brilliant opening stand.

Both players showed positive intent as Ishan Kishan hit the boundary, Rihit Sharma took care of the six. Rohit’s first three limits in innings were sixes as he sang in innings. By the end of 10 overs, the batters had assembled an 89-run stand.

Just when it looked like the skipper was ready to end his half-century drought, Rohit perished trying to aim for a big shot as he punched one straight into the hands of the defender midway through the deep window. Although he finally looked in good form, Rohit couldn’t end his half-century drought as he narrowly missed the mark by two points.

It’s Rohit’s longest half-century drought for the five-time champions. However, this is his second longest streak as he went without scoring fifty in 22 consecutive games for Deccan Chargers in the 2009 edition of the IPL.

Apart from his personal form, as captain Rohit also had a bad season as his team could only win 3 games out of 13 games played so far. Mumbai Indians are currently languishing at the bottom of the points table.
