- Rockstar Games’ website has undergone a notable overhaul, potentially in preparation for the GTA 6 reveal in December, which will kick off the upcoming game’s marketing campaign.
- The GTA 5 2011 reveal was preceded by a countdown on Rockstar’s website, which could also be the case this time around.
- The Rockstar Social Club website also got a small update which revealed that the platform now has over 200 million users.
Rockstar Games’ website has received a notable overhaul whose timing suggests this move is linked to the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6 reveal. While this isn’t the first time a Rockstar website has sparked GTA6 rumors, this kind of speculation seems more anchored in reality this time.
This is mainly because Rockstar recently confirmed that the first GTA6 the trailer arrives in early December. In other words, the game’s long-awaited marketing campaign should finally start in a few weeks.
The subsequent update of Rockstar Games’ websites is therefore widely interpreted as part of the company’s preparations for the GTA6 reveal. The redesign, first spotted by RGT leak Tez2, introduces the integration of Rockstar Social Club and a new permanent menu on the studio’s official website, among other changes. The old hamburger menu icon has been replaced with a black and white Rockstar logo which still serves a similar function, as clicking on it will trigger a drop-down box allowing users to navigate between the home page, Rockstar’s game catalog and the company’s news service.
To the right of this icon is a new permanent menu containing alternative links to Games and Newswire, as well as those directing users to the Videos and Downloads sections of the site. Speaking of downloads, the redesign added a large button prompting users to install the Rockstar Games Launcher to the upper right corner of every page on the site. Links to Rockstar’s online storefront and support pages are now also more visible on the site and can be found in the More dropdown on the main menu.
GTA 6 trailer could be preceded by a countdown on Rockstar’s website, similar to GTA 5
In terms of features, the biggest change came in the form of an improved search function allowing visitors to filter their queries by categories, including games, posts, videos and usernames. Since 2011 GTA 5 If the reveal was preceded by a countdown timer on Rockstar’s website, it’s possible the company has something similar in store for its sequel reveal. After all, announcing the GTA6 Releasing the trailer in advance would ostensibly maximize its viewership from day one. Either way, it’s plausible that Rockstar timed this redesign to make the most of the increased traffic its website is sure to enjoy from the upcoming trailer.
The Rockstar Social Club website has also been updated with a new number of users
At the same time, the company also updated the Rockstar Social Club homepage by increasing the number of users from over 100 million to “over 200 million.” The new character, also spotted by Tez2, can only be seen by logging out of the site. The number itself is unsurprisingly close to the volume of life GTA 5 sales; according to Take-Two Interactive’s latest financial report, GTA 5 reached 190 million sales by the end of September.
