Robbery at 7-Eleven in Elmhurst leads police to chase West Garfield Park


CHICAGO (CBS)– A convenience store robbery in the western suburbs leads the police on a chase to Chicago.

Elmhurst police responded to a 7-Eleven where three gunmen stole $300 and cigarettes around 2:30 a.m.

Illinois State Troopers spotted the suspects’ car and followed them to 4740 West Jackson Blvd. in West Garfield Park, where the offenders jumped out of the car and fled.

Officers use police dogs to track them down.

No arrests were made.

A similar incident was reported at a 7-Eleven on Halsted and Roscoe streets in East Lakeview around 12:30 p.m.

Chicago police say three men robbed the clerk at gunpoint and fled with cash, cartons of cigarettes and a bottle of liquor.

The attackers left in a brown SUV.

Police have not confirmed whether the two incidents are related.
