The Republican National Committee’s communications director said Thursday that Politico recently “published a false story” about the RNC and claimed an editor was “rude” and “dismissive” of a female staffer.
“Earlier this week, @POLITICO published a fake story about the RNC,” Danielle Alvarez wrote on Twitter, about an article about the RNC’s “election integrity” operations and her work with the story’s supporters. Donald Trump’s 2020 election robbery.” When a female member of my team raised our legitimate concerns with editor @PeterCanellos, he was rude, dismissive, and ended the call with, “I don’t never want to hear from you again.”
Alvarez also said they have contacted Politico editor Dafna Linzer, but have not yet received a response.
She added that “lack of professionalism has become a trend” with Politico and referenced another story from 2020 where Politico admittedly did not seek comment.
POLITICO CONFIRMATION OF HUNTER BIDEN’S LAPTOP MATERIAL PROMPTS CRITICISM OF EARLIER STORY DELETION
“Republicans are used to being the recipients of negative corporate media coverage. What we won’t accept is disrespect and a lack of basic journalistic standards,” she continued. on the Twitter feed.
Politico’s story, titled “RNC partners with ‘Stop the Steal’ advocates to train poll workers,” referenced recordings “of hosting summits held this spring in Florida and Pennsylvania” obtained by the media.
“Publicly, the RNC has insisted that its aim is to ensure that there are enough trained poll workers to protect the electoral process and ensure partisan parity at polling centres. unproven allegations of impropriety and conspiracy,” Politico’s Heidi Przybyla wrote.
RNC HITS 40 MILLION CONTACTS WITH VOTERS, NEARLY $40 MILLION IN CASH 100 DAYS BEFORE ELECTION DAY
Politico also noted that the RNC disputes the idea that they are “training” poll workers.
“The RNC, in its email response, said the Democrats also have a major Election Day operation through their national party and noted that the Democratic National Committee website offers a webinar on the how to become an election worker. The RNC also disputes that it trains election workers. It convenes sessions in which statewide “election integrity” directors coach recruits on how to challenge ballots and voting processes “from the workshops,” and all poll workers must attend separate trainings by county clerks,” Przybyla wrote.
RNC officials disputed to Fox News Digital that Przybyla asked about the “training” when seeking comment on the story. In an email obtained by Fox News Digital, Przybyla asked a spokesperson to comment on the story but did not mention the training aspect. It is not known if any other messages were transmitted between the two parties.
“We are planning a story for Monday based on new tape recordings in which RNC Director of Voter Integrity Josh Findlay explains how Cleta Mitchell is the real driving force behind vote integrity efforts and the work of the RNC. is to provide the ‘muscle’ or the staffing and organization. He says this in a few different places at CPI summits. The president has been careful to openly embrace former President Trump’s claims about an election stolen but it does indicate that the RNC is dependent on a number of people who have been key in pushing this election forward claims to be bolstering its voter integrity effort Can you all please , let me know if you would like to respond and/or discuss further?” asked Przybyla.
This is the latest chapter in a feud between the RNC and Politico. RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel wrote in June that the RNC “does not provide training for election workers, we just facilitate”, while responding to a separate Politico article from Przybyla at the time. The piece the RNC is now challenging follows that June article.
“Video recordings of Republican Party operatives meeting with rank-and-file activists provide insight into a multi-pronged strategy for targeting and potentially nullifying votes in Democratic precincts: Install trained recruits as regular poll workers and put them in direct contact with party lawyers,” Przybyla announced on June 1.

Politico spokesman Brad Dayspring noted to Fox News Digital that he updated the story with the RNC’s dispute over the term “training” at the time. He said that in the original June article on the subject, it included a slide from a presentation at a workshop of election inspectors and polling candidates by Matthew Seifried, director of election integrity for the RNC for Michigan, which said, “Our mission is to recruit, train, and place Republican election inspectors at every targeted polling station and at every absentee counting station to make voting easier and DIFFICULT TO CHEATE.
“The RNC objected to POLITICO’s use of a term (training) that it uses in its own materials. Despite this contradiction, POLITICO has updated the story at the request of the RNC,” said Dayspring at Fox News Digital.
Politico added that Peter Canellos, the editor called in by the RNC, “spent a considerable amount of time working through the RNC’s objections with the spokesperson and once those arguments were exhausted referred it to the reporter and asked not to call him again on this subject and work with the journalist instead.”
RNC senior adviser Richard Walters said: “We had hoped that the new leadership of Politico would have created a level playing field for Republicans, it is clear that the disrespect and basic journalistic standards of the former leaders will remain the status quo. what.”
Politico also drew criticism in 2020 from The Washington Post’s Erik Wemple when writer Tim Alberta said he had not contacted McDaniel to comment on his article, “The Inside Story of Michigan’s Fake Voter Fraud Scandal “. Alberta said McDaniel and his RNC staff had “proven to be so dishonest and so untrustworthy that I feel no obligation to provide them with a platform from which to mislead the public”.
